PLEASE NOTE
The size of a tuber is independent of dahlia plant size. Essentially, "size does not matter with tubers." Tuber size is relative to different varieties of dahlias. Some tubers are large, and look like an Idaho potato; while other tubers are the size of your pinky finger. The important thing to remember is that if a tuber has a live "eye" or sprout, it will produce the proper size plant and blooms for its classification. Please be aware that we sell only single tubers. We do not sell clumps of dahlia tubers nor cuttings.
The Summer of 2011 was an exceedingly frustrating Summer as far as growing dahlias is concerned. It was cold and rainy on the Olympic Peninsula making it impossible to rototil and plant the garden until the middle of June. Fortunately 150 pots of dahlia tubers had been planted in March-April and provided blooms in July. As "Summer" actually appeared the dahlias took off and did magnificently! Dahlias just don't like it cold and wet!!
